Hi ho, hi ho, Rotherham panto is go go go!
Published Monday 24th May 10
It may well be the beginning of summer, but Rotherham Theatres are already getting into the panto spirit by announcing their festive production for this season.
The timeless classic 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' will be thrilling the thousands of panto fans when the curtains pull back for the first time on December 4 for a five week run of fun.
Casting is being kept under tight wraps for the moment, with the big announcement to be made in the next few months.
However, panto producers, Spillers, who will be returning to the theatre to bring magic to the stage, are promising more star big names for the Civic Theatre.
Rotherham Theatre Manager, Mark Scott, said: "Although we are only just getting into the warmer months, panto is on the lips of everyone here at the Civic. It is such a big production that we have to start planning this early to make sure everything is ready for December.
"At the moment, scripts are being prepared, auditions are being held for the supporting cast, music is being written and the theatre is being measured up for the sets, which should be some of the best we have ever had.
"Snow White is a classic tale that kids love and, thanks to a cheeky twist by Spillers, adults will have a great time too.
"So far, over 2,000 tickets have already been sold for the show, that's enough to sell the Civic out seven times over and this is without the star being revealed and the fact that they only went on sale in April. It is a magnificent response from our visitors and we promise to put on the show of the year for them.
"Fingers crossed this will be our best selling show ever, with a full house night after night. But, if you want any special dates, such as Christmas week, you have to book now, they sell out very, very quickly."
