PACT meeting at Wales

Do you want to influence and shape community policing services in the Rother Valley South area - then why not go along to next week's PACT meeting?
The PACT -'Police and Communities Together'- meeting takes place at 6pm on Thursday August 5, at Wales Village Hall and anyone living in the Dinnington, Wales or Anston wards who has an issue that will require a police and community approach is invited to attend.
The monthly PACT meetings demonstrate how the Rother Valley South Safer Neighbourhood Team is working closely together with agencies to address crime and anti-social behaviour across neighbourhoods in the South of the Borough. Each month the community is asked to identify the issues that affect it most and determine three priorities for their neighbourhood.
Over the last 12 months, crime and anti-social behaviour has continued to fall in their area. Although it was felt necessary to bring in a Dispersal Order for Dinnington recently, not one person was formally prosecuted for breaching the dispersal order.
"This was due to effective partnership working on the ground and early intervention," said Cllr Jane Havenhand, Chair of the Rother Valley South Area Assembly.
"Some alcohol was confiscated and a lot of young people were given advice and guidance. But not one young person who was issued with a Dispersal Order breached it and this was in no small way due to the extensive communications through schools, parents and partners who joined together together to tackle local neighbourhood issues.
"This kind of working is an excellent example of the partnership approach that is working in the Dinnington, Wales and Anston areas and I would urge anyone who has an issue, to attend the PACT meetings. By working together, our aim is to make every neighbourhood in Rother Valley South a safe place to live and work."
