Rotherham-by-the-Sea comes to All Saints’ Square

The town centre square will once again be transformed into a seaside resort for a great week at the beach, without even leaving the borough. This fantastic, fun and free event will be running from Monday August 9 - Saturday August 14, 10am - 4.30pm each day and fingers crossed the sun will be shining all week!

Last year Rotherham-by-the-Sea drew in hundreds of people from around the borough to enjoy the seaside experience which included fun and activities for the whole family.

The year's event promises another week of fantastic activities with a funfair, face-painting, bingo, and a knobbly-knee competition to name but a few. Plus, three brilliant theme days including Egyptian Day, Pirates and last, but not least, to tie in with the Civic theatre's panto extravaganza, Snow White Day!

The fun never stops at Rotherham by the Sea. Children and adults alike will be transported to the seaside with striped deckchairs, tonnes of sand and lots of brilliant entertainment including bingo games for an authentic by-the-sea experience.

New for this year, running every day with the exception of Saturday, will be a helter skelter. Also new for 2010 there will be craft workshops taking place at the Arts Hub, Imperial Building, throughout the week, plus, on Friday you can take part in a pirate treasure hunt organised by ACT for Rotherham Business Group.

Events & Promotions Officer, Dawn Campbell, said: "We are hoping this year's Rotherham-by-the-Sea event will be the best yet as it's become a real tradition in the town centre. The people of Rotherham genuinely look forward to all the activities going on over the week, flocking to the square and really joining in the seaside spirit.
