Singing legends search their way into Rotherham

Rotherham Theatres is gearing up to welcome singing superstars, The Searchers, to the Civic on Thursday September 16 and tickets are selling fast.
The Searchers are one of the few remaining hit touring bands that emerged from the heady days of the early 60s and are in as much demand today as they have ever been.
Named after the classic 1956 John Wayne movie, The Searchers were, along with The Beatles, one of the most influential groups of their time. Over their remarkable five decade career, they have notched up a run of over 18 hit records, including three number 1 hits.
They have continued touring the world, thrilling audiences of all ages with some of the greatest and memorable songs ever recorded. Fans can sing along to classics such as "Sweets For My Sweet", which shot to number one in the summer of 1963, "Needles and Pins", "Mr Tambourine Man" and "When You Walk in the Room".
The Searchers are still led by John McNally and Frank Allen and started life as a skiffle group in the late fifties. They then headed for the revered "Star Club" in Hamburg , where they developed their repertoire and unique sound playing alongside such US greats as Ray Charles and Gene Vincent.
Rotherham Theatres Manager, Mark Scott said: "We are thrilled to have The Searchers here at the Civic Theatre. There's been such a fantastic response already and we're heading towards a box office sell out, so fans will have to be quick to get their hands on the last few.
"Audiences are in for an exciting evening, it's going to be an amazing show!"
The Searchers will be taking to the stage of the Rotherham Civic Theatre on Thursday September 16 at 7.30pm . Tickets are priced at £17.50.
