Inspire services and funders in the area with YOUR Community group priorities.
Published Monday 6th September 10
Existing and new community groups in the Maltby area are reminded that a series of workshops are being held for their benefit over the next few months.
The Wentworth Valley Area Assembly and Maltby Town Council are holding the series of workshops to inspire services and funders in the area.
The first workshop - on September 16 - will allow community members to meet service providers within the area one-to-one in a 'speed dating' style.
Participants will get five minutes with representatives from the South Yorkshire Police, Maltby Academy, Voluntary Action Rotherham, the South Yorkshire Probation Service, Rotherham Youth Services, Groundwork, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Rotherfed and the Sports Development Team from Rotherham Borough Council.
The second workshop, on October 7, is a 'meet the funder' workshop. Funders currently confirmed are South Yorkshire Community Foundation, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Humberside Learning Consortium and Hargreaves. This will be an opportunity to find out what funds are available and how to apply for them.
The third workshop on October 21 will discuss community group priorities and feedback from the previous sessions.
Further dates booked are November 18 and December 2. These may focus on writing funding applications or on a specific area community groups may be interested in such as how to set up a youth group or environmental project.
Any community group in the Maltby area is welcome to attend as many workshops as they wish. Anyone who would like to join a community group or is interested in setting one up are also welcome. To book your place please contact Wentworth Valley Area Assembly on 01709 334743 or wentworth.valley@rotherham.gov.uk.
