Published Monday 20th September 10
The “Snow White Pantomime Bus” hits the streets of Rotherham on Monday September 27 for a one-off, magical tour to officially launch Rotherham Civic Theatre’s festive presentation.
This year's pantomime cast, lead by West End star and TV personality Darren Day as Prince Antonio, will be touring Rotherham on a vintage red double decker bus from South Yorkshire Transport Museum.
Darren will be accompanied by TV and recording star Stephanie Dooley as Snow White and rising comedian Ben Nickless as the Court Jester.
The pantomime bus will set off from Rotherham Civic Theatre at 10.45am, en-route to its first stop to visit children at Broom Valley Community School , then onto Rotherham Hospice at 12 noon, with the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Rose McNeely, for a special performance
Finally, at 1pm, the touring troupe will park up in the beautiful All Saints' Square, where everyone is invited to join in the fun as Darren and company meet fans, sign autographs and give a festive flavour of the annual show.
To get into the Christmas spirit of giving, staff and volunteers from Rotherham Hospice will be collecting during the pantomime bus tour's visit to the town centre.
Mark Scott, Principal Officer for Rotherham Theatres said: "Spillers Pantomimes and Rotherham Council are once again bringing something a little bit special to the Civic Theatre for Christmas time.
"To launch the pantomime this year, we wanted to sprinkle some magical Snow White stars across different parts of Rotherham and bring the pantomime to people who can't always get to the theatre.
"All the Rotherham Theatres staff and pantomime performers are looking forward to a magical day and sharing the Snow White experience with the people of Rotherham.
"We would like everyone to join us all in All Saints' Square for this very special one-off opportunity. It will be fantastic to see everyone in All Saints' Square at 1pm enjoying Darren Day and the pantomime cast's performance."
