Ghost walk returns to Rotherham Town Centre

Prepare to be spooked as Far Out Theatre hosts a spine chilling ghost trail around Rotherham town centre on Thursday October 28 at 7pm.

Rotherham 's town centre has a history dating back nearly 2,000 years, filled with war, intrigue, famous faces and historic architecture, so, it's no wonder there has been the odd supernatural experience reported.

Members of the Far Out Theatre Company will be taking visitors around the town centre for the walk, entitled "It's a Scream!", to highlight the spectres and phantoms of Rotherham.

Starting at All Saints' Square the terrifying tour will be taking in historic, haunting monuments including the Chapel on the Bridge, which is rumoured to have held Mary, Queen of Scots for a short while.

All the while tales of werewolves and lost souls will be told in dramatic effect by members of the talented theatre group.

Tickets for the walk are on sale now from Rotherham Visitor Centre priced at £5 (concessions £3). Booking in advance for this spooktacular event is essential. Fancy dress is encouraged but optional.

Taking place as part of the "Yorkshire Ghost Festival", a month long ghost-fest which, "It's a Scream" is set to become a firm favourite with ghost and ghoul enthusiasts alike.

Culture and Leisure's Events and Promotions Officer, Dawn Campbell, said: "The walk originally featured as part of this summer's Walking Festival and proved extremely popular.

"Tickets for the last ghost walk sold out fast leaving many people disappointed that they missed out, so we are delighted to be teaming up with Far Out Theatre to run this fantastic event again.

"The 'It's a Scream' ghost walk is suitable for adults and children making it a great opportunity for all the family to get dressed up and have some fun!"
