Free after 3 scheme ends

Published Thursday 7th October 10

Motorists are reminded that Rotherham's "Free after Three" parking scheme has ended.

The initiative, which was launched in May last year, actually finished last Friday October 1, meaning that motorists will have to pay the relevant fees when they park from 8 am up to 6 pm. Charges in the Wellgate multi-storey apply from 7 am until 7 pm.

The Council has kept the same parking fees and has deferred a proposed ten per cent increase for both 'on-street' and 'off-street' parking until next year in an effort to continue support for town centre traders.

In addition, visitors to Rotherham town centre can still take advantage of free all-day parking on Saturdays.

This applies to all 'on-street' parking as well as council-run 'off-street' car parks in the town centre but excludes the multi-storey car park above Rotherham Transport Interchange or the Clifton Park and Clifton Park Museum car parks.
