Register now for Santa Run and Frosty Fun

The Rotherham Hospice and Rotherham Council are teaming up to bring you Rotherham's very own "Santa Run and Frosty Fun Day", on Saturday December 18.

The Santa Run starts at 11am, people of all ages and abilities are welcome to run, jog, walk or stroll the route. Get dressed up in the supplied Santa Suit (reindeer antlers for children) and complete the one mile course around Rotherham Town Centre. 

To enter simply pay your registration fee, collect a sponsorship form and ask your friends and family to sponsor you to help raise vital funds for the hospice.

Adults (16+) can enter for just £10 and you will receive a free Santa Suit including jacket, trousers, hat and fluffy beard. Under 16's entry is £5 and get free Reindeer antlers and a big red flashing nose, which is enough to make Rudolf jealous!

Families of 4 can enter together for a reduced fee of £25.
Every entrant will receive a commemorative medal and has the chance of winning some fantastic prizes.

Louise Johnson, Event Fundraiser said: "The hospice was built by the generosity of local people and it is still reliant on their financial support to keep it up and running.

"By joining in the festive fun you can run and raise money to continue, expand and improve hospice sevices for terminally ill people in Rotherham. We look forward to seeing you suited and booted on the December 18!"  

And that's not all, following the fun run, you can have a go at competing in "Frosty's Fun" in Effingham Street 12 noon - 3pm.

Frosty's Fun is an "assault course" style challenge, consisting of five activity stations including wrapping presents, decorating a Christmas tree, practising sliding down chimneys and feeding a reindeer, all against the clock.

At each station, contestants will put on different parts of a suit so that by the finishing station they will be dressed as Santa! 

The event is open to all, people can compete against their mums, dads and family members, other shoppers or even pre-book and enter their own team. Be sure to get involved in the Christmas extravaganza come down to All Saints' Square from 10am onwards and join in the fun.  

Events and Promotions Officer for Rotherham Council, Dawn Campbell added: "This is another fantastic event for Rotherham town centre.

"What better way to get yourself into the Christmas spirit by taking part with your family, having fun whilst raising funds for such a good cause.

"These events will be the first of their kind held in the town centre, but we certainy hope they won't be the last."
