Have your say on Laughton Common
Published Thursday 7th October 10
Consultation sessions are set to take place next week in Laughton Common and Thurcroft.
Residents will be asked for their ideas and views on improvements in the local area.
The consultation will be on the design of the new play area, artworks and Gateway Improvements.
The new play area will replace the existing equipment and will be primarily designed for children under the age of 12.
The area could include swings, climbing equipment, balancing equipment a slide and a carousel. These would be set in a landscaped area which will include low mounds, longer grass with wild flower seeding, logs and boulders.
The design is currently at the initial stage and can be altered following comments received during the consultation. The existing multi-use games area has already been improved by installing further fencing to fully enclose the area.
Local school-children and adults have designed artworks celebrating the landmarks of the Laughton Common area.
Artist Gillian Brent will be on hand to talk about the existing designs and will also run design workshops for sculptural seating or fencing for the vacant site on Outgang Lane, as part of Gateway improvements to Laughton Common.
Plans for landscaping of this area will be on view for residents to add their comments and ideas to and Members of the Gateway Team will also be available to answer questions.
After approval by the local community, it is hoped that all the works will completed before the end of March 2011, giving Laughton Common a new look for the Spring.
The Display and Design Workshops will be at:
Monksbridge Community Hall: October 11, 3.15pm - 5.15pm.
Matrix@Dinnington: October 15, 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall: October 15, 5.30pm - 7.30pm.
