Help Rotherham become even greener

Published Thursday 7th October 10

The call has gone out for green-fingered residents to help one of Rotherham’s green spaces to become even more beautiful.

Rotherham Council's Green Spaces Team, along with Denis MacShane MP, local councillors and the Winterhill Environmental Group, are setting out to give Engine Pond in Kimberworth a tidy up.

Their aim is to clear the pond, remove any litter and open-up overgrown areas to help create the perfect home for wildlife.

Green Spaces Officer, Nicola Jones, said: "Everyone is welcome and this is a great way to meet new people in your community.

"All equipment is provided but please come prepared with warm clothes and sturdy boots.

"Don't forget your warm flask and packed lunch too!"

Denis MacShane MP added: "I am delighted to be involved in such a valuable project.  It's great to see people pull together, this is true community spirit!

"I would like to encourage people to come down and get involved."

The event takes place on Saturday October16, 10am - 2pm. Please meet at the Engine Ponds, Little Common Lane, Kimberworth.

For any enquiries please contact the Green Spaces Team on 01709 822453.
