Snap winner wins snap

A talented amateur photographer has been judged to have captured the spirit of the recent Rotherham Show on an online contest and won a tasty treat for his efforts.
Dave Barber, 37, of Brecks, submitted his snap of the show in September and was judged to be the best entry by a panel, taking into account the theme of the competition, to best capture the important elements of the biggest free land show in the North.
His eye catching snap featured the newly-restored bandstand surrounded by bustling show visitors, bright blue skies and vintage vehicles just parked up from the popular rally.
The judging panel, lead by Cllr Ken Wyatt, made the decision after receiving dozens of entries submitted electronically to the Rotherham Council website taken at the popular show, which this year attracted 70,000 visitors over its two days.
For his eye-catching endeavour, Dave was the winner of a Fairtrade hamper, which features a selection of ethically-sourced food and treats.
Cllr Wyatt said: "I'd like to thank everybody who entered this competition. There were a fantastic range of photographs submitted and it was a genuinely hard choice to pick the winner.
"Dave's photograph the one that was by the winner really captured the energy and spirit of the event and I urge anyone who hasn't yet seen it, or the other entries, to do so."
Winner Dave added: "A friend of mine told me about the competition on the Council's website, so I decided to submit my photos and I was pleasantly surprised when one of mine won."
Dave will be presented with his hamper on Monday October 25 at Rotherham Town Hall .
