Howard Webb urges Santa to take-over Rotherham
Published Wednesday 8th December 10
World famous, Rotherham born referee Howard Webb has given his backing to the Santa’s Run and Frosty’s Fun event taking place on Saturday 18th December.
Howard put Rotherham on the map when he was chosen to referee the world cup final last summer. He has also been honoured with the Freedom of the Borough for his huge contribution to local sport as well as his dedication to charity work.
Howard commented: "The Santa Run and Frosty's Fun event is a superb way to mark the festive season, it's an excellent opportunity to get the whole family together and raise much needed funds for the Hospice.
"The Hospice is reliant on the generosity of people taking part in fundraising events to carry on providing much needed support for terminally-ill people in Rotherham.
"I can't wait to see Santas and reindeers running their mile round Rotherham town centre for Santa's Run and the Frosty's Fun challenge looks very exciting too. You really do get your chance to be Santa for a day, sliding down chimneys and wrapping presents.
"Please get your all friends and family together and register to take part in this fun packed day!"
Sign up to Santa's Run today, pay your registration fee of £10 per person (16+) and we will provide you with a free Santa suit. Under 16s can take part in the run as reindeer, for a £5 registration fee, they'll receive antlers. Families of four can enter for £25.
Prizes will also be given to the winning Santas and reindeer from each category.
Sign up to Santa's Run by visiting http://www.rotherhamhospice.org.uk/ or call the fundraising team on 01709 308917.
And that's not all! Why not stay in town to complete Frosty's Run? Santa has designed a challenge consisting of five activity stations including wrapping presents, decorating a Christmas tree, practising sliding down chimneys and feeding his reindeer.
At each station, contestants will put on different parts of a suit so that by the finishing station they will be dressed as Santa! Time is running out, so competitors need to complete the tasks against the clock.
The event is open to all, so people can compete against their mums, dads and family members, other shoppers or pre-book and enter their own team.
