Proposals to make a change in governance arrangements

Proposals for a change in the Council's governance arrangements are moving forward.
The Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 makes new provisions for executive arrangements for local authorities.
Following a consultation exercise, the Council has confirmed its preference for the Leader and Cabinet Executive (England) Model, often referred to as the "Strong" Leader Model.
The Council was required to draw up and publish proposals for changes to its governance arrangements and to formally to adopt the new arrangements by 31 December 2009.
