Wath Library supports World Book Night

One of Rotherham libraries is taking part in the national book 'give-away'.

Next Thursday, March 3, Wath Library is taking part in World Book Night 2011, a national initiative that  will see one million free books given away by 20,000 passionate readers to other members of the public across the UK and Ireland.

Two days before World Book Night itself, members of the public in Wath will have the opportunity to take part in the special event at Wath library when there will be quizzes, prizes, a 'Juke Books Jury' as well as staff hoping to give away more than 150 free books donated by World Book Night. 

The event will run from 7.30 to 9.30 pm and tickets will cost £1, including refreshments, and are available from Wath Library on 01709 873542.

Reader Development Librarian Julie Hird, said: "It's great that we in Rotherham Libraries are doing our bit to be part of this fantastic scheme to celebrate books and reading.  If it's anything like the events we have held over the past year, we should be in for a great evening!"

The final selection of World Book Night titles offers a wide array of outstanding books encompassing all types of fiction be it historical, literary, crime and commercial as well as poetry, memoir and young adult. Whether a huge bestseller, a prize-winning debut, a lesser known gem or an undisputed classic, these books are accessible works of enduring quality that people will feel passionate about sharing with others.
