Fe-fi-fo-fum, Rotherham set to get a show with a lot of fun!
We may only just be escaping the cold clutch of winter, but, staff at Rotherham Civic Theatre already have an eye on the forthcoming festive period by announcing the title of the much-loved annual pantomime.
After much deliberation, it was been decided that the 27,000 expected panto fans deserve a "giant" show, so, after a break of over 15 years, The Civic Theatre will be welcoming back "Jack and the Beanstalk".
Tickets for the show, which, for a record tenth year, will once again be produced by Spillers Pantomimes, are on sale now, with key dates, such as Christmas week, set to sell out within weeks.
Rotherham Theatre's Manager, Mark Scott, said: "How do we top last year's show? Simple, by making it a 'giant' of a production!
"Rotherham's panto fans, who have stayed loyal to us despite the recent harsh economic climate, deserve the best show possible, and we're determined to give them it and make it a Christmas to remember.
"We've not had Jack and the Beanstalk for some time at the Civic Theatre, but, it's come back into fashion and, after breaking new ground recently with Pantomime's such as Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz, we've decided that it's time to plant the seeds and resurrect an old favourite.
"Stars for the show, which last year featured both Darren Day and Steps' Lee Latchford-Evans, are yet to be announced, but it's going to be another first-class cast.
"As has been the trend over the past few years, we're expecting tickets for the shows near Christmas to fly out of the door, so if you're wanting your family to get the best seats in the house, get them while you can."
Jack and the Beanstalk starts at Rotherham Civic Theatre on Friday December 2. Tickets are priced from £10.50 for children, £12 for adults or £42 for a family ticket.
