Forgiving the unforgivable at Rotherham Theatres

Published Tuesday 17th May 11

Third Nail Theatre return to the Civic Theatre later this month with the award winning psychological drama "Frozen", by Bryony Lavery.

Ten-year-old Rhona goes missing. Her mother, Nancy, retreats into a state of frozen hope. Ralph, a loner with a bit of previous is looking for some distraction. Agnetha, an American psychologist, comes to England to research her thesis. Winner of London's prestigious Barclay Award for Best New Play of 1998 Frozen is the chilling story of these three lives drawn together in the face of an unspeakable tragedy.

Powerful, humane and compassionate, Frozen explores our capacity for forgiveness, remorse and change after an act that would seem to rule them out entirely.

Third Nail Theatre co-director Ray Globe said "When we decided to produce Frozen we knew it was going to be a bit of a 'difficult sell'. But with the Milly Dowler case currently in court and Madeline McCann back on the front pages Frozen gives a timely, chilling glimpse into the lives 'behind the headlines'. We can't promise you a comfortable evening of theatre but we can promise a production you're unlikely to forget"

Bryony Lavery has written for television and radio as well as being a critically acclaimed British dramatist. Born in Yorkshire, Bryony is best known for her award-winning play Frozen, as well as her recent hit at the Sheffield Crucible "Beautiful Burnout"

Frozen will be at Rotherham Civic Theatre between Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 May at 7.30pm

Tickets are priced at £7.50, concessions £5.50, and can be purchased from the Box Office in the Central Library and Arts Centre reception, by telephone on 01709 823621 or online. More information is available including ordering tickets online.
