Rotherham gets its dancing shoes on

On Saturday July 16 starting at 11am, as part of the exciting "imove Rotherham" event, dazzling dancers are being asked to take to the stage for a live dance competition final in Rotherham's All Saints' Square.

But, all potential future superstars have to enter the competition by Sunday July 3 by posting a short video of their finest moves in the imove Rotherham Facebook page.

The day of dance will also include performances by the award winning Demon Barbers, local dance groups and fun workshops.

Rotherham Borough Council's Arts in Health Officer, Rhiannon Lister-Coburn, said: "With the continuing popularity of the likes of X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, we've got a new generation of people out there who love to get on stage and entertain crowds with great routines.

"We know that there are some fantastic dancers in Rotherham thanks to our many successful performance and theatre groups, and we want them to show us what they've got.

"Get your dance moves filmed, get them uploaded to our Facebook page and we'll see you in the Square in July. It's going to be a fantastic day, make sure you're part of it!"

The "Rotherham imove" event is part of "imove", Yorkshire's cultural programme for London 2012.
