Tasty treats in Rotherham Town Centre

Published Tuesday 21st June 11

Rotherham town centre has welcomed two businesses with the official opening of both The Yorkshireman’s Deli and fashion store Caprice.

The Yorkshireman's Deli, based in the Imperial Buildings, and Caprice, which has just opened it doors on High Street, are set to help continue the revitalisation of Rotherham Town Centre in the best way possible.

The Yorkshireman's Deli, set up by savvy husband and wife team, Lee and Frances Taylor from Greasbrough, will be specialising in providing locally sourced quality food including cheese, honey, preserves, pork pies and even Yorkshire Crisps.

The enterprising duo have been visiting local farms to find the best produce, which they then sell in their new deli, located just a few steps away from the Minster Gardens, which has it's grand opening in July.

The take-away menu is also proving to be a hit with breakfast rolls, hot roast pork sandwiches, cold sandwiches and hot and cold drinks.

Clothing store Caprice joins The Yorkshireman's Deli in helping to bolster Rotherham town centre's reputation for quality independent shops.

Family-run Caprice, which has existed in Rotherham in for the past 30 years, is a massive success story for the town.

Their latest shop, located on High Street, is set to continue the tradition of high-quality, well priced fashionable clothing for all ages.

Caprice and The Yorkshireman's Deli joined a host of other new shops which have rejuvenated Rotherham Town Centre.

In 2010, 44 businesses opened in the Town Centre, buoyed by new exciting developments, investment and schemes, such as the Shop Local card, which gives shoppers generous discounts in 100 stores.

Cabinet Member for Town Centres, Economic Growth and Prosperity, Councillor Gerald Smith, said: "It's with open arms that we welcome these two new businesses to our Town Centre family and we wish them the absolute best of luck with their new ventures.

"Thanks to shops like these Rotherham is building a reputation for quality independent retailers and we're standing out because of it.

"As these new shops show, Rotherham Town Centre can offer genuine quality in pleasant surroundings. The historic Imperial Buildings are a perfect example. It features a wide range of shops, from Sayas Coffee with its unparalleled view of Rotherham Minster, to Yellow Brick Road, which specialises in vintage clothing.

"I very much look forward to seeing the Town centre continue to grow and these fantastic independent shops have every success in the world."
