Fancy a challenge over the summer? Then look no further than the Rotherham Library Service!
The Library Service is looking for enthusiastic young volunteers to help with its annual summer reading challenge for children.
If you aged from 14 to 19 years old and have some spare time on your hands over the summer break then helping with the reading scheme could be just the thing. It will allow you to meet new friends, it will build your confidence and it will help you gain valuable skills and experience for future employment or further education.
Each year the Rotherham Library Service challenges children aged from four to 11 to read six books over the summer holidays. This year's challenge - 'Circus Stars' - starts on Saturday, July 23, at libraries across the borough.
Young volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs - to register children onto the scheme and listen to them talk about the books they have read during the challenge, as well as supporting library staff with craft activities over the summer holiday.
Anyone interested in volunteering can obtain further information and details about applying either by asking directly in any local Rotherham Library or by checking the web site at www.rotherham.gov.uk/libraries.
As this volunteering opportunity involves work with children a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check will have to be made on all applicants aged over 16.
