Workshop manuals sale

Published Friday 15th January 10

Calling all car enthusiasts and restorers!

Are you the proud owner of a classic car who could do with some help and advice on its maintenance?

If you are, then you should get down to Rotherham Central Library later this month for a unique sale - of workshop manuals covering a byegone age.

At 9 am on Monday, January 25, a one-off sale that includes over 200 volumes priced at £2 each, will begin at the Central Library.

So if you own a Hillman Imp, a Triumph Vitesse, perhaps even an Austin A35 or one of many more models no longer in production, then this is your chance to get your hands on a vital workshop manual that may help you keep these former favourites  on the road.

The sale - on the ground floor of the library - could also attract collectors who are known to buy these books, irrespective of whether they actually own a model of car or not.

They would probably be interested in the rareties, such as the  manual for the Moskvitch - a Russian ambassadors' limousine of the 1960s - and for the original 1948 Land Rover - its first year of production.

Rotherham Library Service is getting rid of the manuals because of the drop in demand and a lack of space.
