Kids get Mega Active in Rotherham

Kids from across Rotherham will have the chance to have a fun-packed summer thanks to the Mega Active Programme.
Rotherham Borough Council Leisure and Green Spaces have teamed up with a range of community partners to bring kids a fantastic Mega Active summer filled with a variety of activities and events, with the fun starting just in time for the summer holidays.
The Mega Active programme includes an amazing array of events for kids aged 0 - 16 years. Activities for this year include gymnastics, dance, tennis, skating, hockey, fencing, football camps, swimming and multi-sports.
Most of the events remain at pocket money prices with many others free of charge.

Councillor Ken Wyatt, Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing, said: "I am really pleased that such a great programme of summer activities for young people has been put together again.
"It is so important for kids from all our local communities to have the chance to keep active, get moving and stay healthy."
Sport and Leisure Manager, Chris Siddall, said: "Mega Active has been helping kids in Rotherham to have fun and creative summer holidays for over half a decade now.
"Hundreds of kids who have taken part in Mega Active will be able to testify how great it is that we're able to offer such a wide range of activities across the borough.

Alongside Mega Active, there will be the Rotherham Summer Games event on Friday September 2 between 10am and 3pm, to help Rotherham kids get ready for the Olympics in 2012.
Taking place at Herringthorpe Stadium, the free action packed day, aimed at ages 5 - 15 years, will include a variety of fun sports activities which will test speed, strength, stamina and flexibility.
