The seaside comes to Rotherham next week.

Published Tuesday 2nd August 11

Sand, deckchairs, fish and chips, ice-cream, fun and hopefully sun will be the order of the day as Rotherham by the Sea returns to All Saints’ Square next week for its ninth year.

This fantastic, fun and free event runs from Monday, August 8, to Saturday, August 13, from 10am - 4.30pm each day and fingers crossed the sun will be shining all week!

Each day 'Rotherham by the Sea' draws in hundreds of people from around the borough to enjoy the seaside experience that includes fun and activities for the whole family.

This year's event promises another week of fantastic activities with fitness on the beach, a cheerleading workshop, balloon sculpturing, prize bingo, clown skills, a limbo competition and a glamorous granny competition to name but a few.

Plus, there will be six brilliant theme days when the public are invited to dress up and join in the fun:

*Monday - High School Musical day
*Tuesday - Hawaiian day
*Wednesday - Disney day
*Thursday - Teddy Bears day
*Friday - Pirates day
*Saturday - Circus day

Each day there will be a best outfit competition for the best dressed too!

New for this year's event is the chance to get a taste of the sea. You are invited to get your fish and chips with a special voucher which can be redeemed at Salt & Vinegar, Nee Nee's Fish & Chips and Master Fry shops in Rotherham town centre.

The fun never stops at 'Rotherham by the Sea'. Children and adults alike will be transported to the seaside with striped deckchairs, tonnes of sand and lots of brilliant entertainment including bingo games for an authentic by-the-sea experience.

From Monday to Friday there will once again be a helter skelter plus many other fun activities.
