All's fair at Magna as the Fayre comes to town again

Published Wednesday 19th October 11

There'll be plenty of fun at the Fayre as one of the year's most popular events returns to Magna to give advice on a range of services available in Rotherham.

The Fair's Fayre event runs from 10am to 4pm on Thursday October 27 and will include a host of help and advice as well as plenty of half-term fun for all the family.

Organised for the fourth year running by Rotherham Borough Council, Fair's Fayre has welcomed thousands of visitors in recent years and this month's event is bigger than ever with over 100 stalls hosted by more than 60 organisations. They'll not only offer advice and information on the services available to people with disabilities but also offer solutions to issues surrounding disability.

Areas that will be represented will include employment opportunities, benefits, education, equipment, services, support and leisure activities.

To help the day go with a swing the South Yorkshire Transport Museum has got on board to offer vintage bus rides from Rotherham Interchange to Magna so you can step back in time and travel in style. The buses are due to run from the Interchange to Magna at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2pm.

Although the day is expected to be informative, it is also going to be fun too, with the arena packed with entertainment for people of all ages, in the midst of the schools half-term holidays of course.

This year that will include music, dance, theatre, and some special guest appearances including players from Rotherham United from 2pm and a special guest from this year's Rotherham Civic Theatre pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, as comedian and all round entertainer Dean Winter joins the fun at Magna. That's in addition to the numerous agencies and voluntary and community sector groups who will be there as exhibitors.

The Leader of Rotherham Borough Council, Coun. Roger Stone, said: "This is going to be a fantastic day. In previous years it has proved to be an innovative way of highlighting issues that go way beyond the council's involvement.

"I am proud that such an all inclusive event is taking place here in Rotherham as so many groups and organisations including the Council have created an enviable reputation for involving service users and informing people about what is on offer.

"This is another occasion to bring our communities together to make sure that Rotherham people are aware of the opportunities, facilities and organisations that can support people with disabilities."
