Blue Badge reminder scheme

Published Tuesday 26th January 10

Blue Badge holders in Rotherham are being targeted in the nicest possible way.

From Monday February 2, the Council's Civil Enforcement Officers will alert drivers whose Blue Badges need renewing by leaving a newly designed leaflet on the windscreen.

These notices have been produced by the Blue Badge administration department, working with the Parking Services Team. They advise holders that their current badge is due to expire and explain how to apply for a renewal.

The customer friendly scheme is all part of the Council's continuing programme of improvement.

It follows our National Centre of Excellence Standard for the delivery of the Blue Car Badge Service within the Yorkshire and Humber Region 18 months ago.

The Council's Neighbourhoods & Adults Services department, which includes the Blue Badge administration, is currently working with other local authorities to share good practice.

The Council is committed to providing parking facilities for people with disabilities.

As part of this commitment, we would like to encourage the reporting of the misuse of the Blue Badge scheme.

Customers are now able to report suspected fraud by completing a Blue Badge Fraud Report via the Council website.

You do not have to give your name or address if you prefer to remain anonymous.

Badges are strictly for use only by the badge holder. They are not for use by family or friends for free parking.

Use of a badge by a person other than the badge holder is a criminal offence and perpetrators can be prosecuted and fined up to £1,000.
