Wood Street Allotments
Published Thursday 28th January 10
Allotment holders in Swinton are to get brand-new facilities thanks to extra local funding.
At 2.30 pm on Friday February 5, Swinton's ward councillors will officially open new offices for the Wood Street Allotment Society at Swinton.
The new facilities, set on the allotments owned by the Council's Green Spaces Unit, will allow the allotment society to continue their work at the site by providing both a suitable meeting place and a shop from where they can sell compost and chicken feed. The new facility will also have lighting and heating allowing the society to continue its work during the winter months.
The funding for the new offices has been organised by the Wentworth North Area Assembly and has come from the Wentworth North Area Assembly Devolved Budget and Housing Market Renewal funding.
Additional support has also come a grant from the Wentworth North Area Assembly Community Chest as well as Community Leadership Funding provided by Swinton Councillor Neil License.
