The Mayor of Rotherham officially opened an extension to Aston Hall School on Friday (4 April).

The extension consists of four new classrooms to accommodate an increase in pupils at the school, which has expanded from 30 pupils per year group to 45 pupils per year group, and from 210 to 315 students in total.

The Mayor, Cllr John Foden, said: "I am delighted to have been invited along to officially open this extension to this wonderful school. A measure of any establishment is its popularity and clearly there is a huge demand from the parents in this community to use these services.

"A school is far more than just a place for education. It is the ground where ideas and spirit are grown and it fills me with wonder and excitement to think of the knowledge and experiences that will be passed on within these new walls.

"School days are among the happiest times of our lives and I am delighted that pupils here are being offered the very best facilities through the endeavour and drive of the head teacher and a forward thinking governing body."
