Rotherham Council is asking for comments on proposed bus priority improvements on the A631 between Maltby and Rotherham.
The measures will provide residents, students, employees and businesses in and around the Maltby and Hellaby areas with faster and more reliable bus services, particularly the X1 and X10 Maltby-Rotherham-Meadowhall-Sheffield services.
They include the construction of an additional bus lane between Addison Road, Maltby and Denby Way, Hellaby; an extension of the existing bus lane at Wickersley School; and changes to the bus stop at Brecks Crescent.
The scheme is funded from part of the Transforming Cities Fund, secured through the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and the Environment, Cllr Dominic Beck, said: “We are committed to reducing traffic congestion and air pollution in our borough. This is just one of several schemes to make travel on foot, by bike and on public transport easier.”

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority secured £166 million from the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund in March 2020. The money will be used to fund a number of schemes across the region to reduce journey times, cut congestion, improve punctuality and reliability, and bring about a wide range of benefits associated with active travel. The schemes will be delivered by local authorities and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
