Rotherham to launch new drug and alcohol support and recovery services

Public Health News

Following a competitive process, Rotherham Council will be partnering with specialist drug and alcohol support provider, With You.

With You will deliver an alcohol and drug treatment and recovery service for adults and young people across Rotherham.

From April 2023, the newly named With You in Rotherham Alcohol and Drug Service (ROADS) will provide an open access drop-in service where people can get help without an appointment or a referral. ROADS recognises the value of engaging with communities to support service user recovery and will build on the existing foundation created by CGL, the current provider. ROADS will adopt a community engagement approach to create greater understanding of recovery and treatment options, increase access, remove barriers to treatment and empower residents of Rotherham to build their recovery community.

The provider of the new services, With You, is a leading UK drug, alcohol and mental health charity. Each year they work with more than 100,000 people in over 120 locations across England and Scotland, providing a free and confidential service without judgement to people experiencing issues with drugs, alcohol or mental health.

Councillor David Roche, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health said: “We have a commitment as a Council to support people to live  healthy and live well. This is a vital service in pursuit of that aim, which will empower people to live safe and fulfilling lives”.

Ben Anderson, Rotherham Council’s Director of Public Health said: “Supporting local people in Rotherham to live the longest, happiest and best quality lives is incredibly important to us. Appointing With You to run our drug and alcohol support services from April 2023 means we’ll be able to provide focused support in the community to those who need it the most.”

With You Chief Executive, Belinda Phipps, said: “We are delighted to be able to support young people and adults across Rotherham with drug and alcohol support when needed. Offering non-judgemental, compassionate support to people affected by drug and alcohol use is core to a happy and healthy community.”
