Young people help show what's on the menu

Rotherham school children have become film stars to show fellow pupils and parents what’s on offer at lunchtime in schools across the borough.
The young people from primary and secondary schools around Rotherham are the stars of the films which are being used to help parents of pupils just starting school, or of ones moving up to secondary, get an idea of the healthy food and menus on offer in Rotherham schools which have meals provided by the Council's Education Catering Services.
The films have been uploaded to Youtube and are part of a partnership project between Education Catering Services, NHS Rotherham and Rotherham Healthy Schools.
The pupils not only star in the films giving their thoughts on the meals but also some of them actually carried out the interviews and helped with the editing.
Councillor Paul Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families Services , said: "The young people involved have given their assessment of what's on offer at mealtimes and we hope the video will help give parents a chance to see that for themselves before their children start at a new school.
"Our schools do offer a great range of healthy nutritional meals and having a good quality meal in the middle of the day is certainly beneficial to young people's learning and general well-being."
The videos can be accessed from the school meals page
