Summer fun for little treasure hunters
Published Thursday 19th July 12
Little Rotherham treasure hunters are being invited to join in a fun treasure hunt around one of Rotherham’s award winning parks.
Shipshape kids are welcome to the tropical island of Rosehill Victoria Park in Rawmarsh on Thursday July 26 between 1pm and 2.30pm.
They will be able to follow the map supplied by Green Spaces staff and make their way around the park to search for clues and ultimately, uncover the treasure.
Captain Donna Morton of the good ship Green Spaces, said: "We're going to be weighing anchor and hoisting the mizzen on this fun, fantastic event, yarrr.
"It's a little know fact that in the 18th century, pirates would bring their treasure ashore then transport it to Rosehill Park and scurry it away from prying eyes. We're going to hornswaggle those pieces o' eight in a fun day of treasure hunting and games.
"This be a family event and young buccaneers must be accompanied by an older salty seadog, such as ye parents. All kids be welcome, but it's especially perfect for young sailors aged six to eleven."
"Meet us by the games pavilion in the Park to sign up. Yarrrr."
The event is free, but, booking in advance is essential. For more information and to book a place please call the Green Spaces Unit on 01709 822453.
