By-election called in Keppel ward for Thursday 26 January 2023

Keppel by-election, 26 January 2023

A by-election will take place in a Rotherham ward on Thursday 26 January 2023, the Council has confirmed.

The poll will be held following the resignation of Paul Hague from Keppel ward in November.

The formal notice of the by-election has been published today (Monday 19 December 2022), and potential candidates have until Thursday 29 December 2022 to submit their nomination papers.

Residents in Keppel ward have until midnight on Tuesday 10 January 2023 to register to vote if they are not already on the electoral register, and the deadline for applications for new or changes to existing postal and proxy votes is the day after, at 5pm on Wednesday 11 January 2023. The deadline for applying to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 18 January 2023.

Voters will begin to receive their poll cards from early January, which will include details of which polling station they should use (if not voting by post or proxy).

The result of the by-election is expected to be announced around midnight on polling day.

See the elections website for further information about the Keppel by-election.
