Oar-some new activity at Rother Valley

Young people and adults will take on a new Olympian challenge at Rother Valley Country Park next month as they try to follow in the wake of Sir Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent.
The park has received funding from British Rowing's Explore Rowing Scheme to provide eight new boats which are available for courses, lessons and hire at the Rother Valley Activity Centre from August.
Councillor Roger Stone, Leader of Rotherham MBC, said: "With the Olympics in full swing and the rowing events taking centre stage it's great to have this link up with British Rowing.
"Rowing is sometimes seen as an expensive sport but this partnership means it will be accessible to so many more people and it would be nice to think that future Olympians could start off their sporting careers at Rother Valley."
Gareth Storey from British Rowing said: "British Rowing launched 'Explore Rowing' in May 2010, aiming to have 10,000 more people rowing once a week by 2013.
"One of the key aspects of this initiative is to work with new partners to increase the opportunity to get involved with rowing.
"Rother Valley Watersports Centre have been provided with eight stable sculling boats through Explore Rowing and this will enable the centre to provide professional instruction for participants of all ages following the national learn to row scheme."
Councillor Amy Rushforth added: "This is a great activity for all abilities and ages to take part in as it has excellent health benefits and is a good social sport to try.
"This a fantastic addition to the wide range of activities that Rother Valley offers and we thank British Rowing for their support."
Jon Hinchcliffe the Watersports and Activity Centre Manager at Rother Valley said: "Our team of instructors have been having great fun on the water with this excellent new addition to our facility."
