Rotherham goes back to the 70s
Published Friday 31st August 12
The music which made the 70s such a magical time is set to be celebrated this month at Rotherham Civic Theatre with Europe’s “Premier Nostalgia Music Show”.
Taking the UK by storm, the "Jackie Generation" is fast becoming the hottest ticket in town with an incredible live show packed full of classic 70s hits based around the biggest selling magazine of the day, "Jackie".
The six piece band will take the audience back to a time when "pop was at its peak". From the towering majesty of Queen and ELO, to the "pin-up" pop of The Osmond's, David Essex, David Cassidy and Sweet and the classic sounds of The Carpenters, Abba and "Grease".
The highly energetic and visual presentation is completed with genuine glitzy 70s costumes from this colourful era.
Rotherham Theatres Manager, Mark Scott, said: "Nostalgia is all the rage and, what better era to celebrate than the 1970s, Space Hoppers, Spangles only three channels on TV and Chopper bikes, fantastic!
"The Jackie Generation is a fantastic show that has toured internationally. Their costumes, routines vocal talents and performance are second to none and it's a pleasure to have them here at the Civic Theatre.
"If you're looking for a show to banish the post-holiday blues, then this is it. The Jackie Generation is guaranteed to get you and your friends singing, clapping and dancing in the aisles."
The Jackie Generation will be on stage at the Rotherham Civic theatre on Thursday September 13 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available either by visiting the Box Office in the Tourist Information Centre in All Saints' Square, by calling on 01709 823621, or by visiting the theatre's webpage and booking online.
