Sun to Shine on Roy Orbison Tribute
Published Wednesday 12th September 12
The music of ‘The Big O’ comes to the stage in Rotherham this weekend with Barry Steele taking on the role of the Man in Black.
The Roy Orbison & Friends '75 Special arrives at the Civic Theatre with Barry Steele in his all live spectacular tribute and fabulous five piece show band on Friday, 14th September, 2012.
If you love good music, then this is the show for you.
Not only will all the favourites by Roy Orbison shake the house, but add to the mix the sounds of The Shadows, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Ray Charles and you have yourself a spectacular fusion of good old rock 'n' roll and contemporary musical genius all on one stage.
Special guests Marc J Robinson as Buddy Holly and Peter John Jackson as Johnny Cash will also appear.
If you haven't seen Barry perform as Roy Orbison before, you are in for a treat, as he puts the rock back into The Big O, with his trademark dark rimmed glasses, soaring vocals and Orbison style.
As well as good music, Barry Steele presents his all live spectacular Multi Media Tribute featuring classic Orbison hits from the 60s right through to the late 80s when Roy joined a band of men, who called themselves The Traveling Wilbury's.
Using both original and film footage from the era, and supported by his band, Barry Steele will bring the life and character of Roy Orbison back to the centre stage, where it truly belongs.
The audience can expect to hear more than two hours of non-stop hits including favourites such as Only The Lonely, It's Over, Crying, Wake Up Little Suzie, Peggy Sue, Pretty Woman, Cathy's Clown and Rave On.
Not only does Barry Steele look like the man himself, but when you hear his fantastic vocal range and amazing falsetto you will find it easy to believe it could be the real thing.
If you fancy absorbing yourself in a tremendous tribute to a true pioneer book yourself a ticket to ride this incredible musical journey. The show starts at 7.30pm with tickets costing £18, or £17 for concessions.
