Calling all young would be poets, playwrights and authors

Published Friday 12th February 10

Fancy yourself as the next J.K Rowling? Do you have a novel in you, or do you just want to perfect your prose?

If you are aged between 14 and 18 and have ever fancied putting pen to paper or finger to keyboard, or would like to hone your creative writing skills, now is your chance!

Rotherham Library Service has teamed-up with Sheffield-based writers' group, Signposts, to set up a Young Writers' Group at Rotherham Central Library, on Walker Place.

The sessions will be taking place on Monday evenings from 5pm to 7pm, with the first one on February 22.

Rotherham Libraries Children's Champion, David Hague, said: "You don't have to be brilliant at writing to get involved, all you need is enthusiasm and an idea or two.

"You never know, it might lead to you creating the next publishing phenomenon, like Harry Potter or Trainspotting, or win your true love's heart with romantic rhymes."

The sessions, which will run until June 7, will be delivered by Sheffield writer and artist Vicky Morris.  If you would like any more information about the project, please contact Vicky at rywriters@gmail.com or David Hague on 01709 823646.
