New infant school for Thorpe Hesley

Pupils at another Rotherham school have become the latest to benefit from the new school buildings being created around the borough.
The Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Shaukat Ali, officially opened the extension and Children's Centre at Thorpe Hesley Infant School.
The new school extension replaces four temporary classrooms which had reached the end of their useful life. The building work has included three new classrooms, a new entrance, rooms for staff, a headteacher's office and the area's new children centre which also has its own playground.
The buildings cost £1.5 Million and are part of Rotherham's Primary Capital Strategy. The project was jointly funded by a RMBC, Surestart and the school itself. They were designed by the Council's own architects and were built by the contractor George Hurst and Son.
Councillor Shaun Wright, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People's Services, said: "The new buildings provide first class accommodation and are already proving popular with both pupils and parents. They will provide another real boost to the school and the local community.
"The combination with the early years provision offers excellent support to the area's children and families and will also help the children when they move on to the main school."
