Recycling centre reopens
Published Monday 22nd February 10
Rotherham's recyclers are reminded that the Car Hill site at Greasbrough re-opens next week.
At 11.30 am tomorrow (Tuesday February 23) Cllr Richard Russell, Streetpride Cabinet Member for the Council, will be visiting the site to personally inspect the much-needed refurbishment works.
The site will open at 9.30 am on Monday March 1, following widespread improvements which has resulted in it being modernised and making it more user-friendly for the Rotherham public.
A new drainage system has been installed at the site, which has also been totally resurfaced with the facilities being rearranged to provide more space.
Traffic flow and signage within the site has also been improved and will make it easier for residents to segregate and recycle more of their waste in a safe and simple manner.
The Council has also been working with the Environment Agency to make sure that the improvements to the site help to protect the local environment.
The site is open seven days a week and opening times are 9:30am till 5:00pm until 31 March. From April 1 the opening times change to 9:30am until 7:00 pm.
The Car Hill site is the second of Rotherham's four Household Waste Recycling Centres to be refurbished.
The first to undergo work was Warren Vale at Rawmarsh. Work on the remaining two sites, at Bramley's Lidget Lane and at Common Lane at North Anston, will take place later this year and will be completed by March 2011.
The programme of investment to carry out improvements across all four centres has been funded by a Defra Waste infrastructure capital grant of £1.05 million.
For further information on what can be recycled and disposed of at Car Hill and the three other Household Waste Recycling Centres, please telephone the Waste Management Team on 01709 823054 or go to our Household Waste Recycling Centre web pages.
