Rotherham’s newest outdoor market attraction is to be launched in time for Christmas at the town centre’s late night shopping event this week.
The new Rotherham Bazaar, located in the covered outdoor market, will be launched officially on Thursday December 8 by the Mayor of Rotherham, and will sell a range of Asian clothing, freshly cooked cuisines, jewellery and accessories.
The launch will coincide with the town’s late night shopping experience, which will see businesses opening until 8pm for residents to take advantage of the Christmas sales. Additional market traders and pop-up stalls will also be selling their wares, with discounts, festive entertainment and live music, in what’s promised to be a vibrant and busy event for the town.
Cllr Denise Lelliott, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs and Local Economy, said: "The new bazaar is sure to be a fantastic addition to Rotherham Town Centre’s business scene, and will offer a unique shopping experience for residents and visitors alike. It’s our hope that the bazaar inspires more unique businesses to set up shop and bring their own styles and cultures to the town centre in the future."
Rotherham’s new bazaar opening is one of a handful of festive events happening over the coming weeks in the town centre during the run up to Christmas. A Victorian Christmas market, which will take residents on a trip back in time to the yuletide of yesteryear, will take place on Saturday 10 December, as well as a magical reindeer experience on Effingham Street, featuring Rudolph and Father Christmas himself on Saturday 17 December.
The launch of the Rotherham Bazaar will be at 11am on Thursday 8 December with late night shopping taking place from 5pm until 8pm.
