Warning over council tax scam

Published on Wednesday, 8th March 2017 in Council tax news

Rotherham residents are urged to be vigilant after reports of a new council tax scam, which has affected other local authorities across the country, has emerged.

E-mails from scammers pretending to represent the Council have been sent to residents, advising customers to confirm bank details in order to recieve a refund on their council tax.

The Council would never request confirmation of bank details in this way.
