Life is sweet for Ann’s Candy!

Published on Tuesday, 29th May 2018 in Council news news

Rotherham Market trader Ann Savage is playing it cool in the current heatwave after expanding her popular sweet stall to offer ice creams and slush drinks!

In addition to her outdoor covered market stall, Ann’s Candy recently opened a new unit on the upper level of Rotherham’s indoor market - where her new offering of ice creams and cold drinks have proved a welcome addition to her range of traditional sweets.

Ann says there is a real community spirit among her fellow market traders, who joined together to throw a right royal street party for the Royal Wedding.

“It was a fantastic day, with people from all walks of life coming along and joining in the fun,” said Ann, who organised the event. “We had so much support from local businesses who donated food and other items free of charge to make the party go with a swing!”

Cllr Denise Lelliott, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, said: “It’s great to see popular long standing traders like Ann expanding their businesses and I’d like to wish her every success.

“With a number of existing stalls expanding and a number of new businesses opening recently, I’d encourage people to come along and take a look at what Rotherham Markets has to offer.”

Visitors to the Markets can now park free for two hours in the red zone of Drummond Street car park, Monday to Saturday. And Drummond Street and Clifton Hall car parks also offer four hours parking for just £1.50 on Saturdays.
