Rotherham Pantomime is announced

Published on Tuesday, 24th May 2016 in Clifton news

Rotherham Civic Theatre is pleased to announce the 2016 magical pantomime is the fairest of them all, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Running from Thursday 1 December until Sunday 8 January, this magical fairy tale needs no introduction, as the beautiful Snow White and her seven tiny friends from the enchanted forest attempt to defeat their evil ruler the Wicked Queen.

The Wicked Queen becomes jealous as soon as her magic mirror tells her that Snow White is the fairest in all the land. Will Snow White meet her handsome prince and live happily ever after…?

This year’s show follows last year’s production of Cinderella - one of the Civic Theatre’s best attended pantomimes ever, with over 25,500 tickets sold.

Cast details are yet to be finalised for the 2016/17 show, and an announcement is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Rotherham Civic Theatre Manager Jo Longworth said she was looking forward to welcoming another spectacular pantomime from Shone Productions.

She said: “Pantomime during the festive season is always a special time of year for families at the Civic Theatre. I can’t wait to see what this year’s show brings.

“Rotherham audiences love panto, with many telling us year after year that it wouldn’t be Christmas without our festive fayre, so, we at the theatre, make sure we deliver the best show possible.

“Key dates around Christmas are already selling fast, so make sure to secure your seats if you want to experience this festive treat.”

This will be the third year that Shone Productions have produced the pantomime for Rotherham, and they are well-known for their popular comedy sketch routines and special effects.

Shone Productions Producer James Shone said: “Pantomime is that special time of year when the whole family can come along to the theatre and all feel part of the performance. It will include traditional pantomime elements and some surprises along the way.

“It is a pleasure to return and produce Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Rotherham audiences really are the best and we are so happy to be again working with the incredible team at Rotherham Civic Theatre.”
