No change to bin collections

Published on Thursday, 19th February 2015 in Bins, rubbish and recycling news

In the absence of new waste calendars, residents are being reminded that there will be no change to their current bin collection schedules.

The current waste calendars issued to all households by the Council indicating when bin collections take place will run out tomorrow, Friday February 20.

It was planned that new calendars - detailing collections schedules from Monday February 23 - would have already been delivered. However, because of possible changes to schedules it was decided to wait until details have been confirmed before printing new calendars.

The new calendars - advising households of their new collection details from April until the end of November - are now due to be delivered to all properties in the next two months.

Adrian Gabriel, the Council's Waste Manager, apologised for the delay in getting the calendars out to customers.

He added: "We appreciate that some of our customers will be wondering what happens after Friday. I can reassure them that the current collection schedule will remain the same, please continue to present your bin and recycling containers as you normally would. If anyone is unsure they can check the days by visiting our website.

"We apologise for this information gap but the new collection schedules have yet to be confirmed so it makes sense to wait a few months rather than wasting money and getting calendars printed that will only last for a couple of months."

Householders are also reminded that the garden waste collections will begin again on or after Monday April 6. The green bin should be put out for collection along with blue bags and boxes on their next recycling collection day after April 6.
