Voluntary and community support services – invitation for bids

Published on Wednesday, 22nd November 2017 in Council news news

Rotherham Council is seeking to appoint an organisation to lead in the design and provision of voluntary and community sector (VCS) infrastructure services in the borough.

The service will be delivered over a three year period, starting from 1 April 2018.

Infrastructure services provide support that helps VCS organisations across the borough to become more effective and sustainable.

The three year grant funding will ensure we:

  • Build social capital and strengthen community assets in our neighbourhoods and wards, with more local groups and organisations supported at a grass roots level to be more resilient, sustainable and active within communities.

  • Create more engaged and active communities. The council will want to see collaborative working with the team of neighbourhood co-ordinators to engage with residents and promote community involvement.

  • Promote equalities and community cohesion through working with communities (particularly those who are marginalised or facing social exclusion) at ward and neighbourhood levels.

The lead organisation will need to clearly show its previous experience in this area of work, and demonstrate management and organisational capacity to manage funds, initiatives and complex delivery partnerships/consortia.

We envisage that the delivery will be through a consortium arrangement. The lead organisation is therefore expected to show in their proposal which other organisations it would involve in the delivery of the specified services and to provide details of their role and expertise.

The closing date for bids is Tuesday 16 January 2018.

The service specification and further information for bidders is available from:
