Rotherham foster carers do it again

Published on Tuesday, 7th April 2015 in People and communities news

Rotherham’s Foster Carers have joined their fostering families and social workers for an ‘Eggstravaganza’ Spring celebration.

Children of all ages came together to enjoy an amazing bumper feast, courtesy of the massive bring and share party that Rotherham’s carers are becoming famous for, whilst music and dancing was hosted by Rotherham’s Borough Council’s voluntary DJ Keith Swannick.

Rotherham Adult Community Learning delivered Easter themed arts and crafts, and the children enjoyed face painting, disco dancing, and games, with the event culminating in an Easter bonnet parade.

Paul Dempsey, Service Manager for Family Placement and Residential Services, said: “Rotherham Borough Council takes seriously the support needs of carers in Rotherham and recognises the importance of informal events like this to draw together carers to share their support, knowledge and skills, and for children to enjoy and have fun.

“Once again, the motivation of Rotherham’s carers astounds. Their aspirations for the children in our care remain second to none.” In supporting fostering families, Rotherham Borough Councils’ Fostering Service holds a calendar of events throughout the year where fostered children can enjoy and participate in a range of cultural, recreational, sporting and life enhancing activities.

“The carers and the children enjoy coming together for the events and it helps us to build a supportive feeling of community amongst our fostering families,” added Paul.

Rotherham Fostering remains committed to providing local fostering families to meet the needs of its most vulnerable children.
