Road Safety in Rotherham
This website brings together a range of information for anyone in Rotherham interested in road safety education, training and publicity and their links to sustainable travel, particularly to school.
Working with schools and teachers, children are taught pedestrian safety and how to ride their bikes more safely. In addition to information on local road safety initiatives, the site provides links to valuable resources provided by other organisations, such as the government and road safety charities.
We are a member of the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership. This is a multi-agency partnership approach to casualty reduction which has been formed to co-ordinate efforts to reduce road accident casualties. A data lead, evidence based approach has been adopted to focus efforts on specific locations, identifiable routes, generic collision factors and specific classes of road users. The partnership is made up of representatives from:
- Each of the four South Yorkshire districts
- South Yorkshire Police
- South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
- Yorkshire Ambulance Service
- South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership
- Highways Agency
- Health service providers
