A School Travel Plan is a set of agreed measures to:
- reduce the number of car trips to and from school by parents and staff
- improve safety for pupils on the journey to school
To cut down the number of car journeys to school, some schools in Rotherham are using travel plans that have a range of measures, including walking buses and safe routes to school.
School Travel Plans contribute to better air quality and reduced congestion by reducing the number of cars on the school run. They help to improve road safety by identifying safe routes to school and alternatives to the private car.
