Co-production is when you and your young person are empowered to be equal partners with practitioners when making plans and decisions that are about your lives. This makes sure that your knowledge and skills are used to create better outcomes.
Working in this way is especially important at transition times, when there might be uncertainty and anxiety about what is to happen. By working in co-production, information can be shared, trust strengthened, and relationships built.

See The Preparing for Adulthood minimum standards which start with the Four Cornerstones of co-production, devised by Rotherham parent carers, young people, and families through Genuine Partnerships.

The success of good quality co-production depends on organisations fostering and embedding this approach within their cultures.
