Brinsworth Litter Busters

A new litter picking group has come together in Brinsworth, they aim to keep the streets of Brinsworth clear from litter and rubbish, whilst having fun, enjoying the fresh air and keeping fit!

Brinsworth Parish Council, Ward members, RMBC Neighbourhoods and Streetpride hosted a community litter picking event as part of the Great British Spring Clean, in April. Volunteers from the community were invited to attend the activity and sign up to be members of the new environmental group.

The event was a real success and over 15 people signed up to become members. Dates have been set for the next 6 months and they are now on their third pick, each time attracting new members. They have also been joined by Volunteers from 'Rotherham Friends in Deed'

Ward councillors provided the funding through their Ward Budget to purchase a Litter picking kit. Brinsworth Parish Council will work with local volunteers to run the project and will ensure the kit is safely stored when not in use. The kit includes adult and children’s hi-visibility vests, litter pickers and bag hoops.

The initial dates have been set for Tuesday’s from 6pm onwards, followed by refreshments. The next dates are: 20th August, 2019, 17th September, 2019  and 15th October, 2019 meeting at The Centre on Brinsworth Lane.

There will also be some additional picks taking place throughout the month, by lead Volunteer Paul Jarman. For full details and up-to-date information on the activity please follow the Facebook page ‘Brinsworth Litter Busters’ Brinsworth Litter Busters
