Rotherham United Community Sports Trust have launched a new project in Rotherham that may benefit people who are suffering from loneliness.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust have launched a new project in Rotherham that may benefit people who are suffering from loneliness.  

Abbi Walker, Health Co-ordinator said: "Tackling Loneliness Together is an EFL Trust programme and something that we are extremely excited to be a part of. The project aims to support those at increased risk of loneliness following the effects of Covid-19 restrictions."

The project will focus on people who fit into one or more of the following, 

  • Aged 70 and above (this is slightly flexible)
  • Widowed or living alone
  • Living with a disability
  • Living with one or more limiting long term health conditions
  • Living in low income area

They can offer the following support: telephone calls, online social connections, support by post, socially distanced ‘garden gate’ conversations, social action
